Growth in Danish wood pellet market

Date: 2012-01-06

The Danish Energy Agency has just released the analysis of the Danish wood pellet market 2010. The report is prepared by FORCE Technology and contains a market survey with detailed information about supply and consumption of wood pellets in Denmark in 2010.

The report shows that from 2001 to 2010 the Danish wood pellet market has grown by more than a factor of 4 – reaching the amount of 1,719,000 ton in 2010. It is particularly the consumption of wood pellets in CHP plants that has increased – in 2010 about 870,000 ton of wood pellets were consumed in this industry, which thereby replaced about 620,000 ton of coal with the included CO2 emission.

Private heating with wood pellets is increasing as well with a growth to about 580,000 ton in 2010 against about 223,000 ton in 2001.

The report is based on data from Danish producers, importers and distributors, Danish heating plants and power plants as well as the Energy producer count 2010.
