Windmill industry on charm offensive

Date: 2006-06-14

The shortage of engineers has caused the major players in the Danish windmill industry to unite their efforts to market the industry to future generations of engineers. One of the players is FORCE technology which provides specialised services in the areas of inspection and testing, production optimization and integrity management.

FORCE Technology's expertise also includes offshore windmills.

Named “The Talent Factory”, the initiative got underway when 60 teachers from the Technical University of Denmark, the University of Southern Denmark and engineering colleges in Århus and Odense recently met. The teachers visited LM Glasfiber, Siemens and Vestas where they viewed the high-tech process used to manufacture the ever-growing windmills and saw the huge potential represented by the windmill industry and environment-friendly energy production, now and in the future.

The focus of the initiative is to create a dialogue between the industry and educational institutions in the hope that over the long term this will encourage young engineers to participate in-service training and collaborative project work in the windmill industry.
