FORCE Technology has now invested in the most modern equipment available in emission measurement of airborne particles. The instrument is called Electrical Low Pressure Impactor (ELPI). This makes FORCE Technology the only company on the Danish market to offer this particular service.
The following applications are expected to be particularly relevant to the new equipment:
Measurement and characterization of ultrafine particles (UFP) in:
- Emissions of ultrafine particles from stationary sources including coal-fired power stations, refuse incineration plants, biomass incineration plants, foundries and steel works
- Emissions from mobile sources including cars, trucks, trains and ships
- Working environments where, for example, the focus is on welding processes and the manufacture of products from synthesized nanoparticles.

ELPI emission equipment measures UFP and nanoparticles of between 7 nm and 10 µm in size, and can take measurements at high temperatures and humidity as well as at ambient conditions.
In addition, a remarkable feature of the equipment is the fact that the collected particles can subsequently be analysed in FORCE Technology’s advanced FIB-SEM microscope, which enables the physical and chemical properties of the particles to be determined. This is a service that, up until now, has been unavailable on the Danish market.
Through its investment in the new emission measurement equipment, FORCE Technology aims to be at the forefront of emission measurement of UFP.
