FORCE Technology tests high-tech race yacht

In the fall of 2006 FORCE Technology performed tests in our towing tank for Wolfson Unit on a large model in 1:3 scale of the latest 'Ecover' Open 60 from Owen Clarke Design.

Tests were performed in our large deep water towing tank, following the base tests performed in 1:7 scale in Southampton by Wolfson Unit.

The client was very pleased with the tests performed at FORCE Technology and the results gave them valuable new information about the yacht performance.

Open 60 are one of the fastest boats in sailing - built in carbon fibre using the latest high-tech structures, they are designed to be as light as possible (for speed) and strong enough to withstand the worst seas. They are designed from the outset to be sailed by just one person. Currently the round the world race VELUX 5 Oceans are under way in the Open 60 Class.
