Focus on transfer of space technology to civil use

Date: 2007-06-21

The Danish Agency for Science Technology and Innovation has appointed FORCE Technology as the Danish representative to the European space organisation, ESA’s large-scale plan for the advancement of technology transfer from the space industry to civil use.

FORCE Technology’s task is first and foremost to identify the technology-related needs of Danish companies, not least the small and medium sized high tech companies. Then, these needs are to be matched with the abundant supply of space technology that developers would like to see utilised outside of the space industry.

It is not a coincidence that FORCE Technology has been appointed to this role, as the company has a vast network of contacts in the Danish business community in general, and more specifically in the local research community and innovation centres. Furthermore, the company works extensively on a daily basis with technology transfer and is personally involved in projects within space operations.

The first visible example of FORCE Technology’s new role as a provider of technology to Danish companies is the website, www.esa-ttp.dk. Here, one can see specific examples of the successful application of space technology in civil production, among other things. The expectations are great: As a rule of thumb, it is said that every Danish krone invested in space research has a positive effect of 10 Danish kroner on other sectors.
