Jordan is tested in a technological leap forward

FORCE Technology’s experts in certification and non-destructive testing solve tasks for the Danish Technological Institute and for RSS. The goal is to raise Jordanian industrial products to an international level.

In Amman, the capital of Jordan, a Danish team is working on improving test competences in industrial production in Jordan. It is part of an EU-financed project that the Danish Technological Institute won over various European competitors.

Non-destructive testing

The goal of the EU-project, led by the independent research institute Royal Scientific Society, is to improve the quality of Jordanian industrial products and make them competitive in the international market. One of the challenges is to enable Jordanians to conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) of their products with certified staff as it has been done in Europe for many years.

In order to do this, Jordan has to improve its NDT training and implement a new certification system. FORCE Technology is the only Danish company qualified to help the Danish Technological Institute take on the challenge.

The EU project also covers the areas of conformity assessment and product certification. Here, experts from the Danish Technological Institute assist the Jordanian institute build up laboratory testing and certification of their own industrial products such as natural stone for the construction industry and electronic parts.

Training and education according to western standards

When the project is completed, the Jordanians will have an NDT training function that lives up to western standards, not least when it comes to instructors. In the project they are trained and certified to the so-called Level 3, the highest level for NDT staff.

FORCE Technology’s specialists will be in charge of courses and examinations in Jordan and during study tours in Denmark, the Jordanians will have intensive training followed by exams which will lead to certificates for more NDT methods.

The project’s personnel certification lies in the hands of the independent certification body FORCE-Dantest CERT. Here, Jordanian instructors will receive Danish certificates prepared according to the requirements set out in the international standard ISO 9712, and these activities will continue until the Jordanians’ own certification body becomes operational.

Technological leap forward

Activities during the one and a half year project not only improve Jordan’s opportunities in markets in the West, but also in markets in the Middle East. ”When the certification system is completed, it will result in a major expansion of the customer basis of the institute both in the Jordanian industry and in the countries around us”, says Mahmoud Mosa, MSc. Engineering, who is Head of the Department for NDT Training and Inspection. He continues: ”NDT certificates are in demand in the industry and now we will be able to fulfil the need. For our institute, assistance from FORCE Technology has meant a technological leap forward within NDT”.
