FORCE Technology offers a range of compact strain sensor arrangements. The strain sensors are also available as a Retro-fitted Tension Monitoring System and may even be installed using a ROV Operated Clamp Arrangement.
The DACOS Strain Monitoring System measures elongation between reference points on the structure it monitors. The system is suitable for a wide range of applications on metallic structures.
The main advantages are:
- Designed for hostile environments, including subsea
- Installation on structures in-service, also under water
- Readily available
- Robust nature makes the sensors reusable.
Purpose
The DACOS Strain Monitoring System provides information about tension and bending in the monitored member or riser element structure. Based upon this information the position to the workover rig may be optimised and impact on the structure detected at an early stage.
Equipment and Operation
A bracelet with sensors and data logging/collecting unit is strapped to the riser. The sensor’s reference points are established when the hard metal pins of the sensors are allowed to penetrate the structures surface with a known force.
The DACOS Strain Monitoring System consists of four hysens strain sensors integrated into a bracelet designed for cylindrical elements. The system has a front-end data collection unit. In addition, an integrated DACOS data logger is optional. The four sensors measure in the axial direction at 90 degree intervals.
Retro-fitted Tension Monitoring System
FORCE Technology's Tension Monitoring System is installed by means of a bracelet arrangement and may be used on almost any kind of structural element where accurate tension monitoring is required.
ROV Operated Clamp Arrangement
FORCE Technology's new clamp arrangement is used for remote installation and retrieval of autonomous ERA sensors, tension monitoring systems and water current meters. The arrangement is designed for reliable and repeatable installation.
