Manifer

Manifer is a software tool that facilitates maintenance analysis according to the RCM methodology. Flexible setup and data management options make Manifer adaptable for most businesses.

Features and Advantages

Effective utilisation of equipment and plant resources require a sound PM program. A maintenance analysis in small scale can often be implemented by use of spreadsheets. However, maintenance analysis as part of the continuous improvement process will require a dedicated analysis tool to support the analysis process. Manifer is a software tool for maintenance analysis allowing flexible user setup, structured analysis capabilities, job grouping, and import/export functionality of equipment and the analysis.

Manifer can be adapted to reflect company specific RCM-procedures that comply with a standard RCM process. An RCM process as defined by SAE (The Society of Automotive Engineers) shall ensure all of the following questions to be answered:

  1. What are the functions and associated desired standards of performance of the asset in its present operating context?
  2. In what ways can it fail to fulfil its functions?
  3. What causes each functional failure?
  4. What happens when each failure occurs?
  5. In what way does each failure matter?
  6. What should be done to predict or prevent each failure?
  7. What should be done if a suitable proactive task cannot be found?
  8. Manifer can be used to develop entirely new or to improve existing maintenance strategies.

What is Manifer?

Manifer will support the RCM process for most businesses through its flexible setup and data management options. The project setup defines what type of information to include and the decision criteria used for the RCM analysis. During the project setup the user defines data fields to include for all analysis steps, consequence categories and matrix, and decision tree logic diagram.

Manifer handles import of equipment hierarchies from computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS). Equipment data relevant for the RCM analysis is also imported to support the analysis process.

The RCM analysis in Manifer follows an FMECA (Failure Mode, Effect and Criticality Analysis) with decision logic for deciding the correct maintenance tasks with specification of man-hours and spares required.

Manifer supports job packing of all maintenance tasks identified. Tasks can be selected from the entire analysis and used to build the appropriate maintenance routines for single equipment, equipment types/categories, systems etc. The maintenance routines can be established periodically for implementation to different CMMS.

System Requirements

Manifer is a client/server application where the application runs on PCs with Windows 2000, NT, XP, VISTA and Windows 7. The Manifer database runs Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases, allowing the user secure backup functionality of the database.

FORCE Technology does also provide a remote desktop solution for Manifer users.
