Foundation

We offer the following services on the foundation:

Load calculations

We perform stress analyses of welded steel structures in accordance with national and international design norms and recommendations:

  • Finite element analyses: We calculate complex welded joints with the ANSYS-programme to determine hot spot-stress concentration.
  • Strain gauge-measurements/calculations: Hot spot-variation in load overtime/strength of the various structure sections are determined via on-site strain gauge-measurements and rain flow counting of the voltage load spectre.
  • Fatigue test: Testing the experimental S-N-fatigue curve on the high frequency fatigue equipment Vibroforte.
  • Fatigue assessment: calculation of the fatigue service life based on the strain gauge measurements and the S-N-fatigue curve.
  • Fitness for service-assessment: fracture mechanical calculation of the remaining service life for a given crack size.

Concrete inspections

We perform all kinds of inspections, tests and examinations that will document the integrity of the concrete structure, the casting quality, reinforcement, anchors and membranes:

  • NDT-examinations of the concrete integrity by use of GPR, georadar, impulse-response, MASW, SASW and other seismic methods.
  • Localising reinforcement and channels by use of georadar and cover metre.
  • Determining the corrosion condition in reinforcements by use of EKP and galvanostatic measurements.
  • Monitoring corrosion in the reinforcement by use of ERE-probes, Corrowatch and Corrorisk-probes.
  • Physical testing of concrete and casts, e.g. pressure testing, measuring the e-modulus and Poisson’s modulus.
  • Investigative examinations of concrete structures by use of macroscopic, microscopic and chemical methods.

Subsea-Inspections

Subsea-Inspections may be performed by use of remotely controlled mini-ROV, divers or other. The Mini-ROV is equipped with a camera for visual inspection and it may be equipped with an ultrasonic probe for corrosion measurements. Inspections are also performed by use of a magnetic wheel scanners directly on the foundation. Magnetic wheel scanners may be equipped with a camera for visual inspections and ultrasonic probes, both the pulse-echo and TOFD, for determining encased defects and corrosion measurements.

Coating and corrosion protection

We provide corrosion preventive surface treatments - coating, hot dip galvanising, metalizing. We assess the requirement for protection against corrosion. We provide consultation as regards tender material and review of quotations. We undertake to perform choice of corrosion preventive surface treatment and preparation of coating specifications and quality requirements. We carry out inspections prior to, during and after paint work and we work according to current rules and standards, especially DS/EN ISO 12944. We apply FROSIO-certified painting inspectors.

Cathodic protection (CP)

We perform dimensioning and design, optimisation by use of modelling, review of design specifications, third party inspections of sacrificial anodes, and establishment of CP-inspection plans. We also carry out on-site CP-inspections and analyses and interpretation.

Load measurements

We provide online surveillance/monitoring of static loads in foundations – e.g. with strain gauge.

Corrosion monitoring

We offer advice on online real time corrosion monitoring, which makes it possible to trace changes in the corrosion velocity without visiting the turbines. Offline techniques such as e.g. weight loss coupons, according to which after having physically retrieved the coupons, changes may be traced remotely and control measures may be implemented. Weight loss coupons also provide the opportunity to assess corrosion attacks visually and to analyse the coatings. We also offer methods for monitoring microbial corrosion in maritime environments.
