With the purpose of studying the inconvenience or benefits from wind, we have a range of sophisticated and modern in-house facilities that support our wind engineering services. The fields of study can for example be structure analyses, wind energy and air pollution. E.g. a pleasant wind environment around a structure or site can prove to be the key to its economic success and viability. The facilities are applied by a broad range of industries ranging from offshore to ships, buildings and many more. By using sophisticated wind models and wind tunnel testing, our specialists can for example assess the wind comfort or pedestrians, the dispersion of gases and plumes, the wind climate around buildings, stadiums and cafés and the dispersion of e.g. snow, pollen and rain.
Towing tanks
Our towing tanks comprise a deep water towing tank and a shallow water maneuvering basin. The towing tanks assure our customers the possibility to test ship and offshore structures under realistic and extreme weather conditions.
Wind tunnels
Our five in-house tunnels are used for experimental investigations of ship and offshore structures, for example vessels and oil and gas platforms, and of bridges and buildings.
Ship simulators
Our ship simulators range from full-mission ship simulators to desktop simulators. Choice of simulator depends on customer needs and requirements.
Software and model building
For our wind tunnels and towing tanks experiments, we use a wide range of model design software. For manufacturing of advanced and complex structures, we use rapid prototyping techniques utilizing our 3D printer which enable us to manufacture or modify models in a short time. We also have a large workshop where our professional model builders construct exact replicas of miniature ships, oil and gas platforms, building, bridges etc.
